Others may make this claim with limited timeframe data, but Schweizer holds the true safety record for all single-engine, piston powered helicopters when its entire history is compared to that of other piston similar helicopters.
The original Hughes 269, the basis for today’s S300 models, was specifically designed to be a flight training aircraft. It is rugged, forgiving, and exceptionally safe, meeting the daily demands flight training. As a result, this aircraft meets the stringent performance and survivability requirements of the U.S. military and as a result flew as a U.S. Army trainer for more than 20 years with exceptional safety.
Since it first rolled off the production line in 1956, thousands of these aircraft, now the Schweizer 300C and 300CBi, have flown around the world with an outstanding safety record due to the aircraft’s superior design and safety features:
